Learn To Be Happy

How does our history become sad or happy? How and why do our experiences affect the way we think and feel? Are human beings born to be miserable? NO! We are born to be human and to evolve through experiences. We are born to win!

There is no doubt that we all have a big variety of situations or experiences during our existence that we allow to affect the way we think and therefore the way we feel. There are people, objects and intangibles things that we meet and they become part of our experiences and therefore our history.

We all make choices, every day, every moment. The reason we are happy or unhappy is not our experiences but the way we deal with our experiences; what we think about them, therefore the attitude we take. Everything we do either makes us successful or unsuccessful, moves us forward or backward, every day, every moment.

Being miserable or happy is personal; it is a matter of choice and this choice has to do with the attitude each of us has.

Attitude is everything! . The problem starts when we label our experiences with our own beliefs. Our attitude is the outcome of how we feel and how we will respond. Sadly and ironically, many of us build such an attitude that instead of solving the problems we already have, we create even more problems. Ironically again, this is the history of the so-called more intelligent being on the planet.

So, what we can do to be happy? How can we move forward instead of backward?

First we have to consider cause and effect…

Our mind stores our experiences as thoughts, thoughts create feelings or emotions, and what we feel is the way we act. Our attitude is a reaction to our thoughts, feelings and actions; it is positive or negative based not on what we think, but how we think, and how we think is related to our level of awareness.

So, the roots of our misery, problems, disillusions, worries and sadness are in our thoughts; how we think about things. When we have negative thoughts, we are creating misery in our lives and if it's something that we don't want for our life, it is time to take control and put our brain to work to form a new attitude by creating new positive thoughts.

You will only be happy, move forward, be the champion you are meant to be when you are honest and take action. Start to motivate your mind with positive thoughts. Start with thoughts of love, optimism, and creativity. Start by appreciating and valuing every second of life, everything you are and have, and become passionate about everything you do.

Stop labeling! Things are the way they are but if you decide to label them, then label your experiences, with your fellow human beings and with your environment, in a positive and optimistic way. Regardless of what happens, paint your life, daily, with a smile in everything you experience. The more you do this, the happier you will become.

Move with the flow. Things are the way they are, they can be otherwise, but for now, things are the way they are. If you row in the direction the river is flowing, its energy assists you. But, if you row against the river's flow, it is only a matter of time before you become exhausted, overwhelmed and defeated.

It is super important to be clear; to understand that happiness is not dependent on the outside world. Nobody can make you happy or unhappy. Be responsible for your life. You and only you have the power to control the way you feel.

When your desire to be happy becomes as strong as the need to breathe, you will be happy. If you want to be happy, make happiness part of your daily thoughts, emotions and actions.

So, be happy, it is not only your choice but also your right! Be happy, regardless; you definitively deserve it. Remember, sixty seconds of sadness is one minute less of happiness!

Chicken Man

by Walter Bovay
(Charleston, SC - USA)

The story is told that I utilized my time wisely while I was in the Navy, and earned both my B.S. and M.A degrees in my spare time while serving on active duty. It was never my career goal to retire from the Navy and wind up frying chicken and making subs in a supermarket deli...

After a 5 year stint as a human resource manager, the market dried up for experienced HR professionals, so I tried a back door approach to stay in human resources. I took a menial position in a supermarket deli frying chicken and making submarine sandwiches hoping to transfer to the corporate HR Department. Mentally, I never resigned myself to being a minimum wage employee. This was just an avenue to get a transfer into my dream position...

Because I approached my job with a different mind set, I was a "breath of fresh air" in the deli. Abraham Maslow would call this Self-Actualization;

the joy is not in the compensation, but in performing the job itself.

Every day, I practiced two personal philosophies: "Treat every customer like they are your next employer," and, "Treat every customer like family and treat every employee like customers."

In two years time, regretfully, the store didn't realize the gem they had, and I decided to move on. My two year experience taught me several things. I learned being nice is a choice, and why not choose to be nice? My working conditions were not enviable, but I went out of my way to be the bright spot in my customer's day. I knew many by first names and many shopped our deli exclusively because they enjoyed being treated as special. Not only did being nice make my shift enjoyable and rewarding, but I could see in the faces of my customers, that niceness equates to the intangible joy experienced when one receives a beautiful bouquet of flowers for no special reason from a loved one or a friend. This is exactly the same message conveyed by Peggy McColl in an article entitled, "Something of Value," appearing on 11/30/07 in, 'Insight of the Day' by Michael Angier/SuccessNet.org.

A world without niceness makes for a sea of disgruntled customers and a very dismal planet. Spread cheers over sneers!

A Box of Kisses

The story is told about a man that punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy." He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.

He yelled at her, "Don't you know that when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside it?"

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,"Oh, Daddy, it is not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.
It is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for years and whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each of us as humans have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, friends, family and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

Until you have learned to be tolerant with those who do not always agree with you; until you have cultivated the habit of saying some kind word to those whom you do not admire; until you have formed the habit of looking for the good instead of the bad there is in others, you will be neither successful nor
happy.

Kung Fu Panda - There is no secret ingredient (video clip premiere)

Hello people, I am so excited about introducing video clips to http://sqq21.blogspot.com. I always had this idea of capturing motivation through movies but I also knew that I don’t want to be a movie director. After much thought, what did I do? I picked out motivational scenes  from movies that caught my attention by editing the movies and making a video clip. The clip will be very short and the message will be direct. Finally, it’s been a year, but still I did it – I made the clip and uploaded it. I have more, dozens, I watch a lot of movies.

I saw the movie  – kung fu panda in 2009 and I loved it, it was totally awesome, the humor is excellent, the motivation is excellent, I was inspired, I still am, every time I watch the video clip.

Synopsis : Po (panda) worked with his father in a restaurant but all along he wanted to be a great ninja, it had always been his dream, as a matter of fact, it became an obsession. He was an admirer of the furious five – top ninjas in the town trained by master chifu, and he wanted to be like them. He was suddenly picked by master ugwe – teacher of master chifu, to be the dragon warrior (a warrior unlike anything the world has ever seen). Master chifu did not approve of the selection since he was hoping the dragon warrior will come from the furious five. It was difficult learning kung fu from master chifu but he never gave up. He later became a great ninja, figuring out a deadly technique – the wooshi finger hold, which he used to defeat tai-lon, a former student of master chifu who wanted to be the dragon warrior at all cost by getting hold of the scroll, thinking there was a secret to being the dragon warrior.

PS : I will welcome comments especially from those that have seen the movie.

PS: from last week
Q : how do you put an uncapped bottle upside-down without spilling water?
A: Hold it over your head—“up”, at your side—“side”, then lower it—“down”. You’re done.

Two Words

I saw a movie last night, and in it was a statement about two words. They are the two simple words, "if" and "what"...

These two words by themselves are very innocent and really can be implemented in many sentences and questions, but if you put them together, it forms a very powerful question...

What If?

This question is the very question that can and will bring you back to a certain instance in your life where you made a choice. A choice that you may not be happy with today and often think about why you did it, but discovered you settled on it because of one of two reasons...

You settled on that decision because it was the easier path to travel at that specific moment in your life, or you did not think that you could take the other choice because of fear of failure or what other people would think.

Now, years later you think about that one specific choice or choices you have made in you life and your mind and thoughts start to take aim at your decision...

You have an inner battle with yourself and contemplate if you had that decision again, what would you do?

What would your life be like today?

Would it be totally different?

Would you be where you are right now, in the exact space sitting and reading this?

Here again lies the very important question...

What if you had that decision to make again?

What would you do?

Would you take the other path because of what you know now, or would you think it would be too late in time to go down the other path all together?

Your mind will probably and inevitably tell you not to do it...Not to do it because you are comfortable in life and doing something different may bring you down a path of uncomfortableness and anxiety may set in.

But is that not how we grow stronger and learn things about ourselves by doing or trying things we never thought possible? Pushing one's self to the limit and going beyond our normal comfort zone!!!!!

In life, there is an old cliche' that I know... It is "Where there is a will, there is a way".

I truly believe if you want something bad enough, you can do it and achieve it. You can correct the mistakes of your decisions from the past, and go out and find happiness in the right decision for your future.

It is never too late do anything in life...

You are on this earth for the time period of a blink of an eye in respect to time overall. Everyday we have to make decisions and have choices thrown at us that could hinder our forward motion or even change the course of our lives all together.

When entering into a decision, weigh your options. Make sure that you play out your answer a year from now, or even ten or twenty years from now.

But if you find yourself in that position of wondering "What if", it is highly possible that you have made the wrong decision to begin with, and must seek its correction where possible so you can live in peace not only now, but for your future as well...

A GLASS OF MILK

the story is told of a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water.

She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the nameof the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose
and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.

He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.

She read these words.....

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

(Signed)
Dr. Howard Kelly

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

what if the woman in the story had turned young Howard Kelly away?
what if she didn't show that act of kindness?
what would have become of her during her illness?

Please, don't be cold hearted, be kind, show some love, what goes around comes around, these things do come back around.

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.

LET IT BE YOU

Each and every day, there are people all around the country and world who are living their dreams. Millionaires are made every day. Families are experiencing tremendous relationships. People are becoming more and more healthy. Life-long learners are growing intellectually and improving their chances for success.

The fact is that living the life of your dreams is possible. People prove that every day. Someone somewhere is going to get rich, get healthy and improve their life. My recommendation is this: Let it be you!

Have you ever wanted to make more money? Have you ever looked at someone who has money and wished that it could be you? People think about getting wealthy all of the time, when only a small percentage actually does. But any of the masses could. Someone is going to start a business. Someone is going to make a great investment. Someone is going to begin the journey to great wealth. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to decide to improve their relationships. Someone is going to enjoy love with their family. Someone is going to schedule some meaningful time with their friends. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to go back to school to improve their life. Someone is going to become a life-long learner. Someone is going to set a goal to read a book or listen to a CD each week for the next year. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to look in the mirror and see that they need to lose a little weight and they will make the decision to become healthy. Someone will run their first marathon. Someone will join an aerobics class and improve their health. Why not let it be you?

I think that by now you get the point: Every day, people are improving their lives. Whether you do or not doesn't matter to those who do. They are going to do it, regardless. It is simply a matter of a decision being made. Let that person be you!

You may be asking, "Okay Jim, but how?" Well, let's cover the very simple actions.

The first and most important is to make a commitment to work on yourself. Are you going to improve or stay the same? No matter what you have achieved, you are at a certain point right now. What you have achieved in the past is fine, but it doesn't make a difference for the future. The decision about what you will become is made each day and every day. Each day someone is making the decision to better him or herself. Let that person be you!

The second is to make a plan. Once you have decided to become better you will have to have a plan. It doesn't have to be a long, intricate plan. It can be simple. Save a dollar a day. Walk a mile a day. Read an article a day. That is a simple plan with achievable goals. Someone is going to develop a plan that will take them into the future of their dreams. Let it be you!

The third is to begin to act. All of the great ideas, without action, become stale and useless. The key to turning dreams into reality is action. People who have great ideas are a dime a dozen. People who act on their dreams and ideas are the select few, but they are the ones who gain the wealth, wealth and wisdom that is available. Someone will act today. Let it be you.

My encouragement to you is to stop looking at others who live the good life, wishing that you were as well, and instead begin to commit to your improvement, develop a plan and act on it. Someone is going to. Let it be you!

Jim Rohn

LIVING OUT LOUD

I am now receptive to the idea that it is time for me to stop whispering and to start living out loud. Stop hiding! Stop holding yourself back and playing yourself down! Stop worrying about how you look and what people are saying. Stop listening to what people are saying and trying to find out if they are whispering about you. Stop waiting for someone to tell you that you are okay or to make you feel special. Life is special! It is a special gift. This is your life! Now take your gift and live it out in the open! Decide today that you are going to live out loud!

Living out loud means having the courage to be exactly who you are without apology. It means admitting your mistakes without beating yourself up. It means not taking who you are and what you have for granted. Release all shame! Release all guilt! You cannot live out loud if you are hiding behind what was. Living out loud means focusing on what is, right now, and that is you!

To live out loud means showing up as your authentic self, without your makeup or your toupee. It means acknowledging your shortcomings and celebrating your strengths. Living out loud means broadcasting your needs, your likes and your dislikes as they relate to your fears and frustrations. It means that you let people know exactly who you are and expect them to be as thrilled as you are about who you are.

In order to live out loud you must have faith in yourself and in the process of life. You must have principles you live by and standards by which you can govern and gauge yourself. Most important, in order to live out loud you must love yourself enough to tell yourself and everyone else the absolute truth about you. When you can do that, you can live out loud and be very proud about what the world will hear about you.

Until today, you may have been living your life in a whisper. Just for today, take one step toward pumping up your volume. Stand up in yourself! Stand up and be yourself!

Living out Loud

MASTER TIME

I feel so good and well. I wouldn’t have it any other way after all I chose to feel good and well regardless of what is visible to me. I am really amazed by the amount of time people spend on social networking sites doing one thing or the other, interesting enough there is never an end to what they do on these sites after all there will always be something you want to upload, something you want download, something you want to comment on,something you want to add to your profile and it goes on and on. I heard productivity dropped in company in asia because the staffs were facebooking at work instead of working. What time do you have left to really do something of value to yourself?

It has been said that time is the currency of the world. What am i doing with the time i have now?am i investing it or burning it? Readers are Leaders they say, how will i become a leader if I don’t take the time to read and know what leadership or any other subject is about. I remember when I had the excuse of not having time for not doing something, now that I have the time what is my excuse?

I spend my time reading, studying and connecting with people who are doing the same, socializing and chatting is good, it even helps me in self development since I don’t know it all, but a line has to be drawn between when it’s a valuable use of my time and when it is a waste of my time.

Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year - and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade! Anthony Robbins

TAKE ACTION

I will need more than sitting down to get the kind of results I want, even if I just sit at home and the checks are pouring in at my doorstep, I still need to get up on my feet and cash those checks, action is needed to get the desired results.Students have to study, workers have to show up at work, I have to get up and do something to better my lot, I have to take action.

THAT LITTLE EXTRA MATTERS

I look forward to a good week. I have to admit that I have some issues that I am currently dealing with and those issues are critical. Nevertheless I am working on making a headway, and getting a move on things even if I have to work overtime and extra-time. I believe the little more I add to my efforts, that little extra can bring about EXceptional TRAansformation for me over my challenges/problems.

WHEN WILL YOU GIVE UP (recognition- Aurum Bay)

It's been a while, wow over a year. What could possibly have kept me from updating my blog? well am back and better at that. I met a friend recently, if i can call him that, he came to my blog and asked me why i dont update my blog? that was what i needed to get back on track and here i am. thanks to my friend AURUM BAY, thats one unique name whose meaning i haven't gotten yet.

I heard of a little story that goes thus - There was a man in a community. He has been trying for a quite a long time to make a success of his business, but all to no avail still he never give up.Everybody in the community knew how well and hard he has tried for so long, they were fed up with his trying so hard, so out of pity and concern they decided to ask him one question, they asked "when will you stop trying so hard and give up", he replied "the day i throw a stone up and it does not come down".

I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move
mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret. Anthony Robbins

Don't give up on success, not here, not now, have another go at it, TRY AGAIN !!!
